Slice House by Tony Gemignani at 5995 Preston Road in Frisco is no longer open. The restaurant, which opened on January 23, quietly shut its doors in mid-October according to CultureMap Dallas. A company representative confirmed to the Houston Chronicle that the business is currently in discussions with the property manager to determine its next steps.
The closure marks the end of the brand's first Texas operation. Gemignani, a 13-time World Pizza Championship winner, established the original Tony's Coal-Fired Pizza & Slice House in San Francisco in 2010. That location served as the template for the current franchise system. The Frisco branch served four specific pizza styles: classic thin-sliced New York, deep-dish Detroit, pan-fried thin Grandma, and thick Sicilian.
The company intends to reopen the Frisco location, though no specific date has been set. A representative told the Houston Chronicle that fans should follow the franchise's social media channels for updates. The closure occurred less than a year after the doors first opened to the public.
This single location was the only Slice House in Texas. The brand currently operates 38 open franchise locations nationwide. Another 111 locations are in various stages of development. The representative stated that the company remains committed to opening additional stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth market despite the temporary shutdown in Frisco.
