Residents of Southern California will gain a new cultural destination in 2030 when TeamLab opens its first permanent exhibition space in the United States. The facility is located in Anaheim, approximately 30 miles south of Los Angeles and a ten-minute drive from Disneyland. This expansion marks a major step for the Tokyo-based collective, which currently operates permanent sites in Macao, Shanghai, Beijing, Jeddah, and Hamburg.
Bloomberg reported on Thursday that the Samueli family, owners of the NHL’s Anaheim Mighty Ducks, has reached a deal exceeding $100 million with TeamLab. The Samuelis are funding the project entirely. The art space will be integrated into OCVIBE, a massive $5 billion development transforming roughly 100 acres of land around the Honda Center. This multiuse district will include housing, offices, hotels, and an entertainment zone.
TeamLab was founded in Tokyo in 2001 by Toshiyuki Inoko. The group consists of artists, programmers, engineers, computer graphics animators, mathematicians, and architects. Their work focuses on the intersection of art, science, technology, and nature. The collective’s two Tokyo locations drew more than 4.2 million visitors in 2025, demonstrating strong public demand for their immersive experiences.
The new Anaheim building is being designed by the California-based architecture firm Smith-Clementi. Developers have released a series of renders showing the planned interior and exterior. They aim for the site to match the popularity and cultural relevance of TeamLab’s international locations. The project is scheduled to open in 2030, coinciding with the completion of the broader OCVIBE land conversion.
