A man lies in critical condition after a pre-dawn shooting at a Houston apartment complex.
The incident occurred at 2:26 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, in the 2300 block of Bering Drive.
Investigators report that a resident was woken by loud knocking and the sound of someone fiddling with his door handle.
The resident’s girlfriend and their one-year-old child were asleep in the apartment.
The woman told her partner she did not recognize the person outside.
The resident retrieved an AR-15 rifle and opened the door.
Police say an argument ensued when the visitor attempted to push his way inside.
The resident fired the rifle, striking the man in the upper body.
Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
The suspect was wearing an orange suit and a top hat, resembling a character from the movie Dumb and Dumber.
Police believe the two men are in their 30s.
Investigators think the suspect may live in the same complex and returned from a party while intoxicated, leading him to the wrong door.
