The Chicago Bears defeated the Seattle Seahawks 34-17 on Monday night in a game defined by a defensive surge. The victory extends Chicago's record to 6-2 and caps a week that saw the team acquire key personnel to strengthen its roster.

Defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons made an immediate impact in his first game as a Bear. Acquired from Tennessee in a trade that included two first-round picks, Simmons recorded a sack on the opening drive. He finished the night with six tackles, a tackle for loss, three pressures, and a pass defensed. His performance helped hold Seattle to just 252 total yards. Chicago's defense allowed only one conversion on 11 third-down attempts.

Quarterback Caleb Williams managed the offense efficiently against a Seattle unit that had been one of the league's most restrictive. He completed 71 percent of his passes for 247 yards while throwing no interceptions and suffering only one sack. Williams set up three short touchdown runs by running back D'Andre Swift, which proved decisive in the scoring.

Head coach Ben Johnson described Simmons' influence on the team as profound. He noted that Williams remained calm during a complex game plan that required precise execution. Johnson added that Williams did not allow chaotic moments to disrupt the offensive rhythm.

The Seahawks, the defending champions, dropped to a 4-4 record with their third loss in the last four games. The defeat ended a 30-game streak where Seattle did not lose by more than four points in either the regular season or the playoffs. Coach Mike Macdonald acknowledged that his team failed to execute the necessary fundamentals to secure a win.

Seattle's offense struggled to establish a ground game despite the recent return of injured players and the acquisition of guard Quenton Nelson. The team gained only 81 rushing yards. Quarterback Sam Darnold completed 17 of 34 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns. His fourth-quarter interception led directly to a touchdown that sealed the Bears' victory.

In a minor procedural note, Williams covered the logo on his cleats to avoid further league fines related to unauthorized branding. He wore all-black shoes for the game. The Bears will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night. The Seahawks will host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
