Jeffery Simmons recorded a sack on the opening drive of his Chicago Bears debut on Monday night, contributing to a 34-17 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The linebacker, who was acquired from Tennessee in exchange for two first-round picks, finished the game with six tackles, three pressures, and a pass defensed. His performance helped limit the Seahawks to 252 total yards and just one conversion on 11 third-down attempts.

Simmons entered the game with a visible determination, having joined the roster just last week. He stated that he focused solely on executing plays rather than worrying about the circumstances of his trade. The Bears' defensive unit performed with intensity that receiver Rome Odunze attributed to Simmons' presence. Odunze noted that the new arrival brought energy that ignited the entire team.

Quarterback Caleb Williams completed 71% of his passes for 247 yards without turning the ball over. He was sacked only once during the contest. Coach Ben Johnson described Williams' play as calm and collected, noting that the quarterback adhered to an elaborate game plan designed to counter one of the league's most defensive units. Williams' efficiency set up three short touchdown runs by D'Andre Swift, which proved decisive against the Seahawks' offense.

The Bears built their lead gradually, starting with a 17-play drive that culminated in a 1-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Luther Burden. They added two field goals in the first half. In the third quarter, the lead extended to 20-9 after another efficient drive ended with a 1-yard run by Swift. The Seahawks managed only one first-half score, a 43-yard pass from Sam Darnold to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 30 seconds remaining in the second quarter.

Seattle's offense struggled to gain momentum on the ground, recording only 81 rushing yards. This performance was notable given the recent addition of three-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson and the return of running backs Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price. Guard Grey Zabel acknowledged the need for immediate improvement in the run game to reduce pressure on the quarterback and wide receivers.

The fourth quarter featured a brief Seattle resurgence. DeMarcus Lawrence forced a fumble by Colston Loveland, leading to a 7-yard touchdown pass from Darnold to Cooper Kupp. The Seahawks successfully converted a 2-point play, narrowing the deficit to 20-17. However, the Bears regained control when Darnold threw an interception that set up Swift's final touchdown, making the score 34-17 with 4:41 left on the clock.

Darnold completed 17 of 34 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns before the interception sealed the result. The loss marked the third defeat for Seattle in their last four games. It also ended a 30-game regular season and playoff streak where the team did not lose by more than four points, the fourth-longest such streak in the Super Bowl era.

Coach Mike Macdonald conceded that his team was beaten and failed to execute the necessary elements to win in the league. He stated there was no way to sugarcoat the result. The Bears, now 6-2, will host Tampa Bay on Sunday night. The Seahawks, now 4-4, will host Arizona on Sunday.

In a separate development, Williams covered the logo on his Caddix brand cleats during the game. He reportedly received fines of approximately $35,000 in the previous two weeks for displaying an unauthorized logo. Williams wore all-black shoes to avoid further league attention, stating he wanted to minimize distractions for the team during a busy week.
