The Caribes de Anzoátegui have won their sixth straight game in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, extending their lead over the rest of the field. Their record stands at 12 wins and 3 losses as of Thursday.

The team secured the victory with a 6-5 win over the Navegantes del Magallanes. The Navegantes, who hold the title of defending champions, sit in last place with a 3-12 record.

The game turned in the seventh inning. The Navegantes had taken a 5-4 lead in the top half of that frame. Omar Alfonzo hit a two-run home run in the bottom half to flip the score and secure the win for the Caribes. That homer marked Alfonzo's fourth of the season.

Romer Cuadrado provided the early momentum for Anzoátegui. He hit a three-run home run in the first inning and added a single that drove in a run in the third. For the visiting team, Thairo Estrada and Eliezer Alfonzo both hit two-run home runs.

The league's other matches on Thursday featured high-scoring affairs and dramatic finishes. In Porlamar, the Bravos de Margarita completed a comeback against the Cardenales de Lara. The Bravos trailed by six runs at the start of the eighth inning, falling 10-4. They scored four times in the eighth and three in the ninth to win 11-10.

David Peralta delivered the winning hit. He singled in the bottom of the ninth to cap the rally. Edward Olivares led the Bravos' offense with five runs batted in, including a solo home run and two doubles. Yonathan Daza and Víctor Bericoto each hit home runs for the Cardenales.

In La Guaira, the Tiburones defeated the Cardenales de Lara 8-3. The Tiburones scored four runs in the first inning to establish the margin. Jurickson Profar and Juniel Querecuto each drove in three runs for the winners.

The Águilas del Zulia crushed the Tigres de Aragua 13-2 in Maracay. The Águilas scored seven runs in the seventh inning and four in the eighth. Justyn-Henry Malloy drove in five runs, including a three-run home run.

In the Dominican Republic, the Leones del Escogido won their fifth straight game, defeating the Gigantes del Cibao 15-8. The Leones scored nine runs in the third inning. Jonathan Guzmán hit a three-run home run in that frame to extend the lead to 10-0. Carlos Peguero hit a grand slam for the Gigantes in the sixth to cut the deficit, but the Leones added four more runs in the final two innings.

In Mexico's Pacific League, the Algodoneros de Guasave swept a doubleheader against the Mayos de Navojoa. They won the first game 5-4 in eight innings and the second 9-0 in seven. This performance keeps them in first place with an 11-3 record in the first round.
