Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation awarded a $25,000 grant to Camp HBCYouth on Tuesday. The funding supports a summer program designed for elementary school children who plan to attend historically Black colleges and universities.
Camp HBCYouth serves approximately 2,000 students from kindergarten through fifth grade over a seven-week period. The curriculum includes literacy, reading comprehension, critical thinking, problem-solving, and STEAM education. The organization maintains partnerships with Spelman College, Tennessee State University, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morgan State University. It also plans to expand into Texas Southern University.
Founders Reagan Fresnel and Brian Wright, both HBCU alumni, operate the camp. Fresnel posted a thank-you message on social media following the announcement. He stated, “To Mrs. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Ms. Tina Knowles & The BeyGOOD Family. Thank you! Your grant helps us put more children on HBCU campuses, hire more HBCU students, and keep camp within reach for the families who need it most.”
The BeyGOOD Foundation noted that 95% of campers express strong interest in attending an HBCU. The organization describes the program as a blend of education, wellness, arts, and sports intended to introduce students to higher education possibilities.
Early enrollment for the next session begins on November 9.
