People magazine named Noah Wyle the 2026 Sexiest Man Alive on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
The 55-year-old actor initially suspected the announcement was a joke. "I thought that sounded like a prank, just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me," Wyle told the publication. He credited his wife, Sara Wells, with helping him accept the recognition. He noted that her belief in him as a husband and father played a major role in his reaction.
Wyle first gained national recognition as Dr. John Carter on NBC's ER, a series that aired from 1994 to 2009. He returned to the medical genre as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch in HBO's The Pitt. His performance in that drama earned him consecutive Emmy Awards for outstanding lead actor in a drama series in 2025 and 2026. The selection follows Jonathan Bailey, who received the title in 2025. The annual distinction, first awarded in 1985, links Wyle to former ER co-star George Clooney, who has won the honor twice. Wyle joked that Clooney would likely feel like a "proud papa" given his current age.
The third season of The Pitt is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.
