In a game where momentum swung twice in the final minute of regulation, No. 4 Indiana needed matching 60-yard field goals and a goal-line stand to beat Minnesota 23-16 on Saturday.

With Minnesota driving in the closing seconds, Golden Gophers kicker Luke Drzewiecki connected on a 60-yard field goal with 19 seconds remaining to take the lead. Indiana coach Curt Cignetti did not call a timeout during the drive, leaving the Hoosiers little time to respond. On the ensuing possession, Charlie Becker caught a 33-yard pass along the sideline before Paddy McAteer drilled a 60-yard kick as time expired to send the game to overtime.

Indiana (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) took control on the first play of the extra period. Grant Wilson, who replaced Josh Hoover in the second half, threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Becker. The Hoosiers' defense then stopped Minnesota on four downs near the goal line, ending the game when Drake Lindsey was sacked. Indiana also beat Michigan 13-6 in overtime the previous week.

The game provided a break from the recent chaos in the AP Top 25. The previous three weeks saw 10 ranked teams lose, including two No. 1s and a No. 2 to unranked opponents. In Week 9, most teams in the top half of the poll won. No. 2 Georgia forced four turnovers in a 27-8 victory over No. 17 Florida in Atlanta.

Several ranked teams fell further down the poll. No. 17 SMU lost 30-27 to Syracuse when Steve Angeli threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Noah Meyers with 17 seconds left. Oregon, which started the season at No. 2 but fell out of the poll, beat Northwestern 34-26 behind three touchdown passes from Dylan Raiola. Iowa shut out No. 25 Wisconsin 30-0, its fifth straight win in the Heartland Trophy series.

Quarterback changes also shaped other results. Tommy Castellanos started for No. 13 Texas Tech after Will Hammond's loss at Cincinnati, and he threw two touchdown passes and ran for 113 yards in a 34-26 win over No. 22 Arizona. Miami's Darian Mensah completed 31 of 37 passes for 387 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-23 win over Pitt, putting his 81.4% season completion rate on an FBS record pace.
