The National Football League and Apple Music announced on Monday that Jay-Z will perform at the Super Bowl LXI halftime show.
The announcement coincided with a regular season game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. The performance is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Jay-Z stated in a statement that his career has been a journey from his debut album Reasonable Doubt to the Super Bowl stage. He described the upcoming performance as thirty years of music, work, and culture culminating on the world's largest stage.
Roc Nation, Jay-Z's company, has produced the halftime show since 2019. The firm recently signed a five year extension to continue this role through 2029. Since taking over production, the halftime shows have featured more hip hop and rap artists.
The most recent halftime show took place last year at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Bad Bunny performed the main set with special appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. Prior to that, the 2022 show in Los Angeles featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar.
Recent performers also include Kendrick Lamar and SZA in 2025, Usher in 2024, and Rihanna in 2023. Although Jay-Z is a 25 time Grammy winner and has ties to the NFL, he has never previously performed at the Super Bowl.
The rapper is currently on the Jay-Z 30 tour to mark the thirtieth anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and the twenty fifth anniversary of The Blueprint. The tour began in July at the Yankee Stadium and included dates in London and Paris in September. His final scheduled shows before the Super Bowl will take place on October 23 and 24 at the SoFi Stadium.
