The Houston Texans lost their top receiver to injury.

The team placed wide receiver Jaylin Noel on injured reserve on Wednesday. The decision followed his Sunday loss to the New York Giants. Head coach DeMeco Ryans first disclosed the injury after that game. Subsequent medical evaluations revealed the damage was more severe than initially thought.

Noel suffered a turf toe injury during the contest. Reports from the Houston Chronicle and insider Aaron Wilson indicate he will undergo surgery. The procedure is expected to end his season.

The injury leaves the Texans with a depleted receiving corps. Noel started the 2026 campaign as the team's leading receiver. He accumulated 331 receiving yards while averaging more than 17 yards per catch. He also contributed to the return game. His absence follows the earlier loss of Jayden Higgins. Higgins tore his ACL during training camp and is also out for the year.

The Texans must now adjust their offensive lineup. Tank Dell returned to the field in the Giants game and may see increased playing time. Marvin Harrison Jr. prepares for his third game with the club. These players will share duties with Nico Collins.

The team returns to practice on Monday. They begin preparations for a trip to Los Angeles. The Texans face the winless Chargers on November 8.
